Mechatronics – a profession with a future

The centre for Vocational and Higher Education in Jawor (PCKZiU) and Mercedes Benz Manufacturing Poland will be promoting, encouraging and launching Mechatronics classes for students in the Jawor district. In December, a letter of intent relating to this matter was signed by: Aneta Kucharzyk, District Mayoress of Jawor, Lucyna Buczkowska, Director of PCKZiU, and Dr. Andreas Schenkel, CEO of MBMPL. The classes will begin operating from the next school year 2019/2020. Some practical classes will be held at the Mercedes-Benz engines factory in Jawor.

Mechatronics is the profession of the future. Employers need qualified production employees, efficiently serving modern computer controlled devices. The newly built Mercedes-Benz factory in Jawor, which combines the latest industry standards with the idea of ”Industry 4.0″, also places such employees within its ranks. The facility will use ultramodern production and assembly solutions based on coordinated cyber-physical systems. The main criteria for the success of the idea of ”Industry 4.0″ is to invest in vocational education. Therefore, since the beginning of the construction of the factory in Jawor, the company has invested in long-term educational cooperation with technical and vocational schools.

In the letter of intent signed in December, the District Office in Jawor, PCKZiU and MBMPL declared to comply with the improvement of the Mechatronic training program. According to the plan, in the next school year 2019/2020, a professional class will be established at PCKZiU under the patronage of the company managing the Jawor Mercedes-Benz engine factory. The details of the curriculum and the graduate’s professional profile are being developed between the Centre and the MBMPL production department. Practical classes will take place in the Jawor factory under the supervision of MBMPL specialists and at the PCKZiU laboratories, which Mercedes-Benz Poland supply with modern teaching equipment.
